Elan Valley Explorer App

Elan Valley in Wales is a vast network of reservoirs, habitats and communities with a unique history stretching back thousands of years. To tell this story, I worked with the Elan Valley Trust and Welsh Water to create a bilingual cross-platform mobile app with a rich interactive map, trails, stories and games.

The interactive map is the heart of the app, offering access to hotspots and interpretive pages detailing hidden stories of the valley and its people using features such as ‘now and then’ picture sliders to reveal lost views and archive pictures

The map also included access to various walking, cycling and horse riding trails, as well as a guided audio tour for people to use as they drove around the site. Child-friendly interactives were included such as an i-Spy game to collect points and badges, and an engineering puzzle to build their own version of the first aqueduct.
