Hoghton Tower – Interpretation Beacons

Hoghton Tower is a spectacular Grade I listed building in Preston, with parts dating back to 1109. The Tower has a rich layered history and I worked with the Hoghton Preservation Trust to explore this with an intuitive yet unobtrusive solution.

I developed a system of interactive beacons that, on scanning, displayed interpretation on visitor’s own devices via text, video and images. The content was responsive to a variety of device sizes and was fully editable by the client with an easy-to-use content management system.

The small, portable beacon units can be installed and moved easily making it a great option for a heritage environment where every surface is protected.
