British Museum – Egyptian hieroglyphs: unlock the mystery

Following on from the highly successful exhibition in London, the British Museum are touring the fascinating story of hieroglyph decipherment. The tour will stop at 3 venues across 2023 and 2024, with the first being at Ferens Art Gallery in Hull. I worked with the British Museum to plan, design and deliver the exhibition to be toured. The show needed to have a distinct, family-friendly focus and be flexible to suit the different sized venues. I developed space plans utilising the venue’s own cases alongside the wonderful objects from the British Museum and brand new graphics. I also worked with the team to develop a number of physical interactives to bring the story to life – these included replica sections of the famous Rosetta Stone for children to take rubbings from, a decoder wheel to compare ancient scripts and drawing stations for visitors to try their hand at writing in the famous script.
